Tomato and cucumber production organically with ground contact in greenhouse

Organic greenhouse production must become more aligned organic principles, relying on plant growth with ground contact, crop rotation and low input factors. This project is mostly focused on tomato and cucumber.

The project aims to highlight status and challenges for producers connected to revised regulations on organic greenhouse production. For these reasons existing and future producers will be asked to share knowledge, concerns and expectations.

Examples from greenhouse production, advisory services, research activities will be described:

  • Cultivation techniques as grafting and co-cropping
  • Construction technique adapted for growing with ground contact
  • Use of local resources to improve soil and supply plants with nutrition
  • Selection of suitable varieties
  • Possible crop rotations
